Google TV Streamer Voice Remote Now Available in Google Store

With today’s launch of Google TV Streamer on Amazon and other retailers, you can now purchase the new voice remote along with a “Google SuperSpeed HDMI Cable” directly from the Google Store.
Like the previously released “Voice Remote for Chromecast and Google TV” (currently out of stock), the “Google TV Streamer Voice Remote” costs $19.99. It’s currently only available in Porcelain, and you can “get notified” when Hazel starts shipping.
This slightly taller remote replaces the Assistant button with a Home button underneath the D-pad, but the Back button remains in the same place. The new Assistant/Mic button has a physical notch/bump, and underneath it is a new mute shortcut key. The volume buttons, which used to be on the right edge, are now in the next position. Google says this will reduce unexpected adjustments.
YouTube and Netflix are unchanged, and Power now includes a customizable home bar, any app, or input button, just like before. The microphone is located between them, and the Find My Remote speaker is on the back. You can see a little grain, but the texture is not very noticeable, and the judder is still there.
The package includes 2 AAA batteries, and compatibility with older Google devices is officially noted in the specification:
In the meantime, there’s the “Google SuperSpeed HDMI Cable.” For $19.99, you get a thin HDMI 2.1b cable that’s not included with the Google TV Streamer. In our review, we noticed that some cables were so thick that they lifted the base of the new streaming device, causing it to tilt.
The cable is “snow white”, 2 meters (6.5 feet) long and has a rated data transfer rate of 48 Gbps. It is very similar to Google’s USB-C cable.
