Samsung TV Remote Not Working? Here Are Some Fixes Worth Trying

       While you can control your Samsung TV using physical buttons or a dedicated app on your phone, the remote control is still the most convenient option for browsing apps, adjusting settings, and interacting with menus. So it can be very frustrating if your Samsung TV remote is having problems and not working.
       A malfunctioning remote control can be caused by a variety of issues, such as dead batteries, signal interference, or software glitches. Whether it’s buttons freezing up completely or a slow Smart TV, most remote control problems aren’t as serious as they seem. Sometimes, simply replacing the battery is enough to fix the problem, while other times, a reboot of the TV may be necessary.
       So if you’re experiencing this inconvenience, don’t worry. Here’s how to get your Samsung TV remote working again without having to buy a new remote or call a technician.
       One of the most common reasons why your Samsung TV remote stops working is a dead or weak battery. If your remote uses standard batteries, you can try replacing them with new ones. If you’re using a Samsung Smart Remote with a rechargeable battery, plug the USB-C cable into the port on the bottom of the remote to charge. For those using the SolarCell Smart Remote, flip it over and hold the solar panel up to natural or indoor light to charge.
       After replacing the batteries or charging your TV remote control, you can use your phone’s camera to check its infrared (IR) signal. To do this, open the camera app on your phone, point the camera lens at the remote, and press any button on the remote. You should see a flash or bright light coming from the remote control on your mobile device’s screen. If there is no flash, the remote may be faulty and need to be replaced.
       Another thing you should check for is dust or dirt on the top edge of your Samsung TV remote. You can try cleaning this area with a soft, dry cloth to improve the remote’s responsiveness. During this process, make sure nothing is blocking the TV’s sensors. Finally, try unplugging the TV and plugging it back in after a few seconds. This should help clear up any temporary software glitches that may be causing the issue.
       If your Samsung TV remote still isn’t working, resetting it may help. This will help establish a new connection between the remote and the TV, which may solve the problem. The reset process may vary depending on the type of remote and TV model.
       For older TV remotes that run on standard batteries, first remove the batteries. Then press and hold the power button on the remote for about eight seconds to turn off any remaining power. Then reinsert the batteries and test the remote with the TV to make sure it works properly.
       If you have a 2021 or newer TV model, you will need to hold down the Back and Enter buttons on your remote for 10 seconds to reset it. This will clear up any glitches or incorrect settings that may be causing your remote to malfunction. To reset your Samsung TV, go back to the Settings menu and select the General & Privacy tab. Then select Reset and enter your PIN (if you haven’t set a PIN, the default PIN is 0000). Your TV will automatically reboot. Once it restarts, check to see if your remote is working properly.
